It was in 2008 that Daniel Truant, after having sold his construction materials business in Entre Deux Mers, that he decided to purchase the Franc Grace Dieu estate in Saint-Emilion. He was to then confer upon his daughter in Law, Sylvie, the management of the vineyard.
With his experience in the construction trade, he then undertook substantial renovations of the domain. The vinification and barrel cellars were renovated first to modernize the winery, and then the vineyard house was transformed into a tasteful bed and breakfast. After that the offices and the tasting room were constructed and currently, a conference and meeting hall are being renovated.
Of course the vineyard was simultaneously renewed and re-planted after precise soil analysis and planting strategy.

« All of this work has one underlying goal: :
To make the best wine on an exceptional “terroir”»

Effectively situated beside Château Figeac and only 2 kilometers from Chateau Cheval Blanc, Franc Grace Dieu benefits from a complex soil of brown sand, clay and rich iron deposits in the sub-soil.
This “privileged” terroir produces well-structured and well balanced wines with pronounced red-fruit aromas, leaving you with a velvety mouth feel with a cashmere-like silkiness.
